SIX WAYS TO INCORPORATE ESSENTIAL OILS INTO YOUR DAILY ROUTINE

Nunchi Essential Oils Gift Pack

We all know we could be living more mindfully – that we would benefit from taking the time to look after ourselves so we can show up better for the people around us – but  when there’s nothing reminding us to check in, our days and weeks can  run away with us. Research has found that building a habit is all about responding to a cue, creating a routine and receiving a reward [1], and the team behind Nunchi oils have harnessed that science to help us bring mindfulness into our daily lives. From their ethos (based on the Korean concept of subtly gauging the moods of others) to their story (Nunchi’s founder Di left her career in advertising to train as a yoga and meditation teacher, and Nunchi was born from her desire to encourage the art of mindfulness), everything Nunchi does has human wellbeing at its heart. We’re a little bit obsessed with this Melbourne based essential oils brand, and wanted to share how Nunchi oils are enhancing our existence.

1. Wake up with Abhyanga

Abhyanga – an Ayurvedic method of self-massage – has been found to improve circulation, lubricate the joints to protect from injury, eliminate toxins, improve bone and muscle strength, tone the tissues and improve immunity [2].  Many of us know this, but sometimes actually taking the time to look after ourselves this way slips off the self-care to-do list. Nunchi’s morning body oil is a carefully curated blend of (100% pure) jojoba oil, argan oil and apricot oil, scented with natural Australian rose, pink grapefruit and bergamot: combining for a refreshingly light and indulgently sweet  scent, designed to promote happiness and facilitate focus and  confidence. The beautifully branded bottle placed on your bedside table can function as a perfect reminder to take a moment every morning to look after your body and soul.

2. Flow In a Sacred, Scented Space

As with Abhyanga, taking the time every morning to practice a short yoga flow is something we would benefit from, but struggle to motivate ourselves to do. Three Oms Spray from Nunchi is the perfect motivating tool to spray into your room and onto your mat before you practice: a grounding and calming blend of juniper, frankincense, angelica, sandalwood, patchouli and pink grapefruit.

3. Keep Clean And Carry On

Since the onset of Covid-19, we’ve all been relentlessly washing and sanitising our hands, so Nunchi have stepped in with an essential oils based alternative to alcohol-based sanitisers. With lemon myrtle (a natural antiseptic), lavender (known for its calming effect) and orange oil, the Nunchi hand sani does more than clean hands, it provides an excuse to indulge in natural, nourishing scents.

4. Re-set and Revitalise

As explained by Daniel Pink in his book When, the afternoon slump is a thing [3]. If an afternoon walk in the sunshine to get you back in the game isn’t an option, Sunny Spray from Nunchi is a good alternative. This blend uses jasmine, Australian rose, honey myrtle, rose myrtle and bergamot to synthesise sunshine and happy walks in Aussie gardens. If that won’t get you ready to tackle the 3pm meeting, we don’t know what will.

5. Meditate

It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that the benefits of meditation are endless, but even so, taking the 10 or 20 minutes to simply sit can seem like a tricky habit to take  on. The Just Chill blend from Nunchi combines grounding buddha wood with lavender, rose geranium, frankincense, patchouli, and orange to inspire a sense of balance and peace. Spray into the air or massage into your temples to elevate your meditation practice, or take a little nap with the restorative scents if that suits.

6. Wind Down

The night-time essential oils blend from Nunchi is our personal favourite, and once you’ve tried it once, spraying A Kiss Goodnight onto your pillow before you sleep is a habit you’ll never break. The soothing blend of chamomile, ylang ylang, cedarwood and lavender is calming beyond-description, and makes the perfect gift for teenagers who have forgotten the art of bedtime.
